Synopsis:

There are three things you should know about Quinn Sullivan: 1) He is madly in love with Janie Morris, 2) He’s not above playing dirty to get what (or who) he wants, and 3) He doesn’t know how to knit.

After just five months of dating Janie, Quinn—former Wendell and unapologetic autocrat—is ready to propose marriage. In fact, he’s more than ready. If it were up to Quinn, he would efficiently propose, marry, and beget Janie with child all in the same day—thereby avoiding the drama and angst that accompanies the four stages of pre-matrimony: engagement, meeting the parents, bachelor/bachelorette party, and overblown, superfluous wedding day traditions. But Janie, much to Quinn’s dismay, tosses a wrench in his efficacious endeavors and challenges him to prove his devotion by going through the matrimonial motions, no matter how minute and mundane.

Will Quinn last until the wedding day? Or will he yield to his tyrant impulses?

Regardless, one thing is for certain, Quinn Sullivan will have to learn to expect the Spanish Inquisition (i.e. the unexpected) if he plans to have and keep Janie Morris as his wife.

This book is not a standalone. It is the sequel to ‘Neanderthal Seeks Human,’ it is book #1.5 in the ‘Knitting in the City’ series, and it is a full length, 100k word novel.

Again, you must read ‘Neanderthal Seeks Human’ first before reading this book.

This book is written in first person, alternating POV (Janie Morris AND Quinn Sullivan; but more Janie than Quinn).

Excerpt
“Are you okay?” I covered his hand with mine, wanting the physical contact. This was an action on my part that would have been remarkable six months ago as I’d never been one to seek or give physical touches as comfort. But with Quinn, touching and being touched felt as natural and essential as breathing or reading comic books.
“Yeah. Fine. You?” His eyes searched mine, but they were cagey and distant.
I frowned at him for a moment before speaking my thoughts. “I feel like there is something wrong—with you—and you don’t want to tell me, or you’re waiting to tell me. Is it work? Does it have something to do with why I have three guards with me everywhere I go?”
“Why do you think there’s anything wrong?”
“Because you’re McCoolpants Von No Touchy since we entered the limo.”
One of his eyebrows arched, his cool expression wavering.
“What’s this? A new nickname?”
“I hope not. But it’s the most efficient way I can think of to describe how strangely you’re behaving.”
“What’s strange?”
“You haven’t made any attempt to take off my clothes. In fact, you haven’t even reached under my skirt. Based on historical data, this behavior is strange.”
He gave me his slow, sexy grin—made even more potent by our semi-touching closeness. “It was a short ride.”
I shrugged. “That’s never stopped you before.”
“This is good news.” His voice was barely contained mirth.
“What is good news?”
“I now have your expectations calibrated to expect sex every time we ride in a limo.”

Review
 ★★★★★ stars

I had high expectations for Neanderthal Marries Human and they were met and exceeded.  I'd like to thank all the fans of this series who pushed Penny to write more about Janie and Quinn and Penny for listening and giving us more of them to enjoy and love.  I didn't think I could love this book more than I loved Neanderthal Seeks Human but this book is extra special.  Allow me to explain.

First of all, I've NEVER stopped reading and highlighted text in a book.  Ever.  I just don't do it.  I'm usually to involved in the story for my brain to stop and register, "Oh, that'd make a great quote." or "I think other people would love this part!".  Plus it's hard to pick one or two quotes everyone will connect with.  What lights a spark in me may not light that same spark in you.  So quotes are not something I do.  However with this book I did.  It's not because I wasn't 110% absorbed in the story, but so much of the book was so funny and I couldn't not make a note of it.

Janie and Quinn are their fabulous selves and it was great to see them after a couple months gap.  I must say Quinn has some of the most romantic lines ever.  I totally did a mental swoon.  More than once.  Anyhow, it's funny because I understood where both Janie and Quinn were coming from regarding how they perceived their relationship and impending nuptials.  I actually thought Janie's idea was brilliant regarding bad times.  It's usually when we're tested we find out what we're really made of and out true stances.  What's more stressful than planning a big wedding in a short amount of time?

There were some new faces introduced and some familiar ones.  I loved seeing the knitting group.  It's always so much fun since they all have different personalities but love each other and knitting. I'm so glad each member will be getting their story told.  I also loved meeting Quinn's sister and parents.  I in particular was hoping for a complete resolution with everyone, but since some parts were left open, I'm hoping Penny maybe thinking of writing a third book featuring Quinn and Janie or maybe a book from his sister's point of view.  I also love how Penny timed the book so it fell between Neanderthal Seeks Human and Friends Without Benefits.  I also love how each book in this series, even this one can be read alone.  However, I beg and implore you not to.  You'd miss out on so much humor, romance, comedy, and action.  I swear Penny's books are like crack.  They're addictive, habit-forming, highly entertaining, and you're always left wanting more.

In a short amount of time I've read all four of her available books and am eagerly awaiting more.  In that same amount of time Penny has become a must read and must buy author for me.  If you're unsure about how you'll like this book or any of Penny's books, please try a sample or feel free to ask me.  I can't rave about this book and the others enough and really feel like these books are for everyone who loves romance and comedy. Since reading my first Penny Reid book, I'm always looking for more from her.  I'm already missing some of my favorite people now that this book is over and I'm looking forward to the next book which is currently being written.  I have no idea how I'll wait patiently especially after so much was revealed to me in the book, but I'm going to have to find a way!  In the meantime I think I'll be re-visiting my favorite knitting group!

*I bought a paperback but a copy was also provided by the author in return for an honest review.  All opinions are my own and I was not compensated in any manner.*

About Penny Reid
Author-Photo-Penny-Reid-300x300SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).
By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
