**Synopsis**

Scottish Duke, Liam Stewart, needs a wife and an heir before he can inherit the money he so desperately needs to support his family, his staff, and restore his ducal estates their former glory. Only ever since his ex-fiancée ran off with the gardener, Liam doesn’t believe in marriage, or miracles, for that matter, until that is, Isabella Edwards appears at his Edinburg townhome with the answers to his problems.
Local preacher’s daughter and former missionary, Isabella Edwards had the perfect life all planned out. Marry her perfect fiancé, live near her family in Holland Springs, open a bookstore, and have a couple of kids. Except her fiancé ran off to Las Vegas with his widowed ex-stepmother, the bookstore closed before it could open, and now… now, she’s pregnant after a one-weekend stand with hot Scot, Liam Stewart.
To Isabella’s utter shock, Liam proposes, but a marriage can’t last on desire alone. The problem? Isabella and Liam are total opposites.  In fact, the only time they’re in agreement is in the bedroom. Desperate to keep her reputation, she accepts.  Her only hope is that they can put aside their differences and let love bring them together.

**Excerpt**

"Excuse me?" a man said, his Scottish accent lilting.
Her knees trembled, but she refused to let it show. Instead, she tossed her head and looked at the man. "Yes?"
  "You're Isabella Edwards."
"And you're Liam Stewart." She wanted to smack herself for sounding so eager. She should sound like a harpy, like a woman righteously mad for her best friend.
"My reputation precedes me, then." Raising a glass of champagne to his full lips, he took a sip. And Bella watched the entire time.
She flushed when a black brow rose. "No, only your associations."
"Ah. Sebastian. He's a proper arse, isn't he?"
Bella snorted, and then schooled her features. He was not funny or charming. Not one bit. "Why aren't you on his side?"
"I am on his side. The bastard's in love, bless him, and your Daisy doesn't stand a chance now that his head is screwed on straight," Liam said. He placed his empty glass on a passing server's tray, and then held out a hand. "Shall we dance, lass?"
Bella wasn't quite sure what made her dance with Liam.
His hand slipped lower down her back, to right above her butt, and she shivered.
Oh, she knew exactly what had made her dance with him. The Devil.

  And a bit of rebellion.

**Review**
★★★★ stars

I'm a huge Marquita Valentine fan.  She writes stories that I really enjoy.  I own most of them but have been really bad with reading them in order.  I'm so glad they can be read as stand alone novels.  It means I get a whole story without getting lost with everything else I've happened to miss out on.  Of course it also motivates me to go back and read everything I'm missing just so I can catch up with everyone.

I loved Bella and Liam together and individually.  I definitely have a thing for royalty, marriages of convenience, and secret pregnancies.  So I was in high heaven with the story line.  I read it very quickly and was very happy with what I read.  Both Bella and Liam are headstrong and it bothered me they let that stand in the way of each other. There was some major drama/action in the book.  For all of you have read Marquita's "The Request", I squealed when the one and only Roman Smith made a brief appearance.

Going back to Bella and Liam, I enjoyed seeing them adjusting to their new realities.  I do wish there had been some more information/clarification about what all transpired while Liam and Bella were apart.  Beyond that I'm hoping for more Holland Springs novels in the future.  I need more Liam in a kilt and the other hotties in various states of (un)dress. :D
