Review: Love Unscripted by Tina Reber

Rating: ★★★★★ stars
Date published: January 1st, 2013
Publisher: Atria Books
Synopsis: An A-List Movie Star…
Ryan Christensen just wanted to be an actor. Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine a life where fans would chase him, paparazzi would stalk him, and Hollywood studios would want to own him. While filming in Seaport, Rhode Island, Ryan ducks into a neighborhood bar for a quick escape from legions of screaming fans…and finds much more than he expected.

A Small Town Girl…
Nursing a recent heartbreak, Taryn Mitchell believes men are best kept at a safe distance. But when Ryan Christensen unexpectedly bursts through the front door of her pub, she can’t help but be drawn in by his humor, charm, and undeniable good looks. At six foot two, with dirty blond hair, blue eyes, and an incredible body, Ryan has every girl in Seaport swooning. But Taryn isn’t every other girl.

A Relationship that Doesn’t Follow the Script…
Despite her better judgment, Taryn soon finds herself falling hard for Ryan. But is their bond strong enough to survive the tabloid headlines, the relentless paparazzi, and the jealous fans who seem determined to tear them apart?
What I Thought:

I'm coming to learn I need to stop being afraid of a book when I see how big it is.  Honestly, the first time I saw how many pages were in the book, I immediately put it back down because I thought, "I don't have the time to read this right now.  This is going to take forever!"  Of course all it took for me to change my mind was reading the first chapter. That's all it took to make me want to become Taryn's best friend and give Ryan an invisibility cloak and indestructible clothing.

This is Tina Reber's debut book and it is fabulous.  Of course since this book was published, she has released a sequel and has another book in a new series is due out at the end of this month.  There is a possible third book for Taryn and Ryan but it's still not finalized.  As stated earlier, this book is gigantic, but I read it in 3 hours.  That's right.  I'm surprised I didn't give myself whiplash I from reading this book so fast or hurt my eyes.  It helps of course, that there is always something happening in the book to keep you on your toes.  I did not put this book down once.  I skipped dinner and sleep in the early hours of the morning finish the book.  There was no way I was going to be able to handle a break.

Love Unscripted has it all, humor, romance, and drama.  It's definitely a book to be experienced.  I do believe this is one of the first New Adult/Contemporary Romance novels featuring a movie star I'd read and it set the bar really high for following books with similar themes.  Even now when I think back to the book, I want to crack it open and re-read it, just to visit with Taryn and Ryan and fall in love with them once again.

About the Author

I had my first library card at the age of four and below is the picture to prove it. My mom was a part-time librarian at the Coplay Library for 29 years, where I spent a good portion of my time growing up attending “story hour” every day after school.
I always chose the hot pink colored carpet to sit on to listen to the amazing stories that were read to us and eventually begged my parents to install the same hot pink carpeting in my bedroom. That’s when I learned that “wall to wall” carpeting DIDN’T mean that my walls would be covered in hot pink carpeting too. It was a sad day.
No, my mother is not in the picture, but some of my longtime friends and neighbors are. You can hate me for posting this picture of us later. I think it’s cute.
My education and background is in Business Analysis, Corporate Training, Banking, Accounting, and IT Design – but that was just to pay the bills. Creative, artsy stuff – from jewelry design to painting and writing – have always been my passion. Back in the day, I was also a bartender, a short-order cook, waitress, and horse trail guide, so I can make a mean mixed drink while making sandwiches and saddling horses.
I live a quiet, drama-free life in Pennsylvania with my husband, our ten year-old son who is growing like a weed, a Keeshond and two Mini Schnauzers, and an Eclectus Parrot named Percy.
