What I Thought:
This is Anouska Knight's debut novel. She entered ITV's Lorraine's "Racy Reads" and won. It was a big hit in the UK. You can see the lovely cover here. It finally made its way across the pond and was released here. I wasn't sure if the book was going to live up to its hype, but it did and I loved the book.
Holly and Ciaran were so lovely. I felt so bad for Holly. The hand she got dealt stunk, badly. I will gladly admit to crying when Holly shared certain moments in the past. I understood her hesitation with Ciaran. Her attraction was unexpected and she felt like the gap between them was too big to overcome.
The book is told from Holly's point of view. I guess that's why for most of the book I wasn't really sure what Ciaran was thinking or how he felt about Holly. Of course his actions spoke very loudly and while some may think they border on stalkerish, I thought they were sincere, well intended, and I liked them.
Anouska Knight really impressed me. I experienced so many emotions and when that happens, it means I connected with the characters and experienced, rather than read the book. Of course the fact that I once again lost on sleep and read this book instead also shows how much I enjoyed it. I can't wait to read her follow up book. I'm thinking of ordering copies from the UK, just to have those beautiful covers on my bookshelves and of course read A Part of Me before it comes out here. They'll look wonderful next to the copy I bought on Wednesday from my local B&N. :)
