Blog Tour: Review, Character Interview, and Giveaway for His Reverie by Monica Murphy

I'm so pleased to bring to you today a review and character interview with almost everyone in the book.  I don't think there are any major spoilers, but there are some interesting answers, and the giveaway is amazing.

About the Book:
I knew from the moment I first saw her she was the one. The only girl I could ever want.

The only girl I could ever love.

She is light.

I am darkness.

She is innocent.

I’ve done too much.

She is good.

I am bad.

She is my every dream.

I should be her every nightmare.

We come from different worlds. She’s…perfect. And I’m…

Not.

Somehow she wants me anyway. So we’ll grasp at what we can. We’re going to make this summer count. She’s my secret. And I’m hers.

The problem with secrets is they never last for long. And when others discover we’re together, they’ll do whatever it takes to keep us apart. All I know is: I won’t let them.

Because Reverie Hale? She’s mine.

Character Interview:

Q. David,  Why did you sleep with Krista?  You knew she was your best friend's girlfriend.  What made you think he'd forgive you after all he went through?

A. David: I made a lot of mistakes and did a lot of dumb stuff but so did he. I'm not perfect. No one is. The pressure got to me from all sides. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Q. Krista:  If you had Nick, why'd you cheat on him?  And why do you want him back so badly?

A. Krista: Don't we always want what we can't have?

Q.Reverend Hale: Why did you side with your wife over your daughter when you clearly saw she was not at fault?  Do you think you're neglecting your kids and focusing too much on your business?

A. Reverend Hale: My wife was in a delicate place at that time and I was trying to smooth things over. I wanted to apologize to Reverie later but didn't get a chance to. And I wouldn't say I'm neglecting my children. They're getting older now and can do many things on their own. The Flock of the Lambs is very important to me and so is my family. They can all exist together.

Q.Mrs. Hale: Why are you and your husband so set on having Reverie behave a certain way when Evander has so much more leeway?
When did you become jealous of your daughter?

A. Mrs. Hale: He's the boy, she's the girl. She needs to be protected and my husband is dead set on that. And I am absolutely not in any way jealous of my daughter. I'm slightly offended you would even say such a thing. <--- (ha she's mad! ~ Monica)

Q.Evander: What made you not want to participate in your dad's show any more? Why have you pulled away from your sister?

A. Evan: It's all a bunch of smoke and mirrors you know? I don't think I should have to be put on display so my parents look like they're perfect and we're a happy little family. It's all a bunch of crap. And poor Rev is so wrapped up in it too...I just don't have time for all that, you know?

Q.Heather:  Why do you dislike Reverie so much?  Which guy are you interested most in: Nick, Michael, or someone else?

A. Heather: I don't dislike Rev, she's just completely different from me. Plus I hear too much from Mrs. Hale. And who do I like best of the guys? Michael...but that was just a summer fling. It can't be anything serious. And Michael is the farthest thing from serious. He's a sweet guy but sorta immature.

Q.Michael: What do you think is going on in the Hale household?  Why do you think everyone is on edge?  Do you think Nick and Rev can make it for the long haul?

A.Michael: That place is straight up crazy. Full of freaky vibes and weird rumors. I think the Hales are doing things they shouldn't. Plus, Valerie Hale flat out gives me the creeps. I think she wants to be my cougar if you know what i Mean.

Nick and Rev?I hope they can make it for the long haul. Nick's gonna have to be strong, dealing with her insane family.

Q.Nick: Where do you see yourself five years from now? What's your favorite thing about Reverie?

A.Five years from now I want to be happy. I want to feel secure, living in a nice little house or apartment, working a good job and having Reverie by my side. My favorite thing about her is that she really is so damn sweet. She's got the kindest heart. Spending time with her...all I want to do is protect her.

Q.Reverie: Do you think you guys will make it through everything?  What's your favorite thing about Nick?

A. I hope we do. He's everything to me but...things change. People change. I can't say anymore...

My favorite thing about Nick is that he really listens to me. He shows me things no one else ever has. When I'm with him, I feel safe. I love that.

Review:
★★★★ stars

Monica Murphy quickly became a must read author for me after I read her One Week Girlfriend Series last year.  When I heard her first heard her next book was going to be a young adult novel. I was intrigued and knew I had to read it.  I wasn't sure what to expect other than younger characters. I didn't realize there were going to some similarities to the OWG series as well as some things unique to His Reverie.

The similarities are few.  There's an air of mystery around the Hale family, the book ends on a cliffhanger.  Yup, I said it.  If you're someone who doesn't like to know, I'm sorry.  The cliffhanger was a shocker for me, especially since it caught me totally off guard.  Up until then, I'd been reading and everything was smooth-ish and then, *BAM!* I was left wide eyed and open mouthed.

Nick and Reverie are both very likable characters, but I liked Nick more.  I think it's because he was the underdog and had already experienced so much in his young life, the majority of it not positive. Reverie was too sheltered and some of her actions and thoughts came across as too naive, which she was, but it felt over done.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book.  I wasn't ever 100% sure what was going to happen and there were revelations all over the place.  I'm really looking forward to the sequel and hope to be able to finally put together all the pieces of the puzzle.
