Review:

★★★★ 1/2 stars

For my first Leigh Talbert Moore book, I picked a really good one.  I was aware she'd written contemporary novels but hadn't had a chance to read them yet.  Then when she announced this book was going to be re-released with a new title and as a serial I was surprised, but not quite eager to read the book.  Then I read the first chapter.  After finishing it, all I wanted to do was read this book.

Thankfully the high energy that I felt in the first chapter carried out through out the book. There was never a dull moment and I was always on edge about what was going to happen next.  As someone who thinks they can tell what the twists will be before they arrive, I couldn't guess a single one.  And as usual I devoured this book.  I honestly think I read it in about two hours.

Prentiss is a hero, she's my hero.  This is a teenage girl who woke up in unfamiliar surroundings and did what she had to do in order to get by and keep the people around her safe.  Plus she was on a mission to get to the one person she thought would never let her down too.  I loved seeing Prentiss go from this dependent and almost malleable girl to a strong willed, determined woman.  I hated to see the changes that most of her fellow "inmates" underwent and I'm sincerely hoping this series is not over, even if this book is. I would love to read more about Prentiss and how she handles the new hurdles and challenges she has to face.

There's so much more I would like to say, but I can't without ruining the story.  For readers like me who don't read lots of paranormal and scifi, this book is pretty amazing.  Pick it up, I think it'll convince you not all books are dark and scary or about saving the world.  Even though this book had dark moments, there was still enough lightness and hope to balance it out.  I'm really looking forward to reading more by Leigh Talbert Moore and being impressed.

*Thank you to the author for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for them in any manner.*

    1. Vampires are cool. I'm impartial to the paranormal creature starring in the book. All I want is a good story! :) Good luck!
