Review: Never Gonna Tell by Sarah M. Ross

24842185Rating: ★★★★ 1/2 stars
Date published: March 17th, 2015
Publisher: self published
Synopsis: My name is Reagan Wilcox: high school senior by day, kick-ass investigative journalist by night. I’ve always loved observing people—especially when they think no one is paying attention.

I thought I was ready to cover any story. Work any angle.

Nothing could have prepared me for what happened that night. I wasn’t ready for what I saw. And I certainly wasn’t ready for him.

I always knew I’d write the headlines. Now, I just might become one.

What I Thought:

You know a book is going to be amazing when it grabs your attention from the first page and never lets it go. That's what happened with Never Gonna Tell and it only got better with each page. Reagan is one tenacious teenager and she's got guts. I both admired and was terrified for her.

The story is told through Reagan's eyes.  Reagan likes to be invisible.  She's trying to find that one story that will help her make headlines, and being invisible helps.  She wasn't planning on finding the scoop of her lifetime and fearing for her life all at the same time.  It doesn't help that she's discovered by the one person she feels a modicum of attraction for.  His reaction to finding her at the scene of the crime and everything that happens immediately after is nerve wracking.  Is he there to protect her or kill her?  I love how Ms. Ross kept both Reagan and I on our toes.

I was reading so fast, I didn't even notice how quickly the pages were flying by.  I read this book nonstop, even while walking around in Target.  I completely understood Reagan's dilemma.  Did she do the right thing and tell someone, or did she stay silent to keep those around her safe?  To make things worse it became clear that all of the police weren't on the up and up either, making coming forward and trusting the wrong person even more dangerous.

This has to be one of the best young adult suspense novels I've read. There are so many plot twists!  I was really surprised when the book ended, just because I wasn't expecting it. All of Reagan's questions were answered and everyone was mostly safe.  I was hoping for more.  Hopefully Ms. Ross will keep writing about Reagan and her sleuthing/writing career. I'll also be keeping an eye out for what ever Sarah M. Ross writes next.

About Sarah M. Ross:
Author-PicSarah started her obsession with reading at an early age, often sneaking BabySitter Club and Nancy Drew books into math class. She would read any book she could get her hands on. Her love of reading quickly evolved into a love of writing and stories began to pour out of her. She grew up in Pittsburgh, graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with a degree in English, and taught 8th graders to love reading as much as she does for several years. Sarah will always be a proud member of the Steelers' Nation, but couldn't take the cold and moved her frozen tush to Florida where she now lives with her family and two cats. You will find her now with her trusty Kindle in hand and toes in the sand! Sarah's debut novel, AWAKEN, released in January, 2012. Other novels include AVENGE, ATONE, ECHO OF AN EARTH ANGEL, and INHALE EXHALE.
