It starts with a dare. An initiation. A challenge.

Quickly, it turns into more. But when you’re a victim of your status, there is no room for anything real. The rules are clear and simple.

Stick to your circle.

And never fall in love with anyone on the outside.

What I Thought:

I've been jonesing to read this book since it was first released.  For those of you who don't know what jonesing means, it's a synonym for craving, albeit slang.  I finally bit the bullet and bought the book. It was 2 am and I thought to myself, "Read a chapter before you go to sleep, get a taste of the book." The next thing I know, it's 3:47 in the morning, the book is finished and my alarm is set to go off at 8:30 in the morning.  And yes, I read every single word.

This book lived up to all of my expectations.  I was expecting the book to be really good, hot, funny, and interesting. I got all of that.  Roman "Romeo" is as hot as I'd heard he was.  He was totally "the man" and he really wasn't looking for anything remotely serious, especially not with the one person who gave him lip and didn't fit his "type."  I loved Rimmel.  She was shy and scared.  I wasn't sure what had happened to her in the past to traumatize her so much, but once it became clear, I understood her reasons.  I liked seeing Rimmel come out of her shell.  She didn't turn into an uber babe and the hottest girl on campus, but she was just a different version of herself.

I was worried the bet premise might be a little cliched, but Cambria Hebert did a fantastic job at keeping that from happening.  I really didn't like Zack.  I had and still have no idea why he hates Romeo so much.  I do know he's not done creating trouble for Romeo and Rimmel.  I like how this first part ended.  I'm hoping to see more of Romeo's parents and their interactions with Rimmel.  I especially want to see how his mother gets along with her.  Their initial interaction made me cry.

I was a little turned off with the sort of insta-attraction Rimmel felt for Romeo.  I liked how it wasn't the same for him.  He had to see her to understand what she was hiding and take a second look.  I also didn't really like how quickly she gave in to how she felt about him, especially since she saw him working his magic first hand.  However, I don't doubt the sincerity of Romeo's feelings for Rimmel.  I have a feeling I'm going to be gobbling the books in this series as soon as they're published.  I'm off to read #Hater next!

About the Author

Cambria Hebert is a bestselling novelist of more than twenty books. She went to college for a bachelor’s degree, couldn’t pick a major, and ended up with a degree in cosmetology. So rest assured her characters will always have good hair.

Besides writing, Cambria loves a caramel latte, staying up late, sleeping in, and watching movies. She considers math human torture and has an irrational fear of chickens (yes, chickens). You can often find her running on the treadmill (she’d rather be eating a donut), painting her toenails (because she bites her fingernails), or walking her chorkie (the real boss of the house).

Cambria has written within the young adult and new adult genres, penning many paranormal and contemporary titles. Her favorite genre to read and write is romantic suspense. A few of her most recognized titles are: Text, Torch, Tryst, Masquerade, and Recalled.
