Behind the Scenes with Kelly Jamieson
Here’s a picture of my messy workspace. This is actually not as bad as it sometimes gets. When I’m caught up in writing a book, details like filing and organizing fall by the wayside. Every time I finish a book, I take the opportunity to clean up – throwing out all the little notes to myself that litter the desk, filing away my working notes and character sheets, organizing everything else.

Although it is a mess, I mostly know where everything is. Some of my essential items are: my J. I. Rodale Synonym Finder, my Big Book of Baby Names, and the Complete Writer’s Guide to Heroes and Heroines by Tami D. Cowden, Caro LaFever, Sue Viders. I like to use colorful sticky notes and pretty file folders.

My “office” is in our basement family room, which I don’t mind most of the time. However, it never fails that just when I’m trying to write a sex scene, or research some sexy man pics for inspiration, the kids need to wander through or ask a question. J Sometimes my husband is down here with me watching the hockey game or some other TV show, but there are times I have to ask him to leave because I just can’t concentrate with the TV on and him telling me all about his day. Then I feel bad. But he understands.

A Look Inside Kelly’s Office:

Holiday Cheer with Kelly Jamieson

We have a family tradition of having homemade pizza on Christmas Eve. I think it got started one year when we wanted to order pizza and everything was closed. I make my own pizza dough and whip up 3-4 large pizzas and breadsticks for family who join us.

This year for the first time ever, we won’t be home on Christmas morning. My husband and two kids are going to California for Christmas, so instead of a Christmas tree and lots of presents we’ll be waking up to palm trees and the ocean. It’ll be different, but our kids are adults now so I don’t feel I’m depriving them of that special Christmas morning feel.

The best gift I ever received was the year my son was born. He was born 12 weeks premature, on December 10, and was very sick with all the normal preemie complications. Christmas Day was the first time I got to hold him and that was a pretty special gift.

Follow Along with Rocking the Holidays tomorrow, December 19th where author Claudia Burgoa will be featured on the sites listed below, plus there will be ways to enter the contest daily!

About Kelly Jamieson

Kelly JamiesonKelly Jamieson writes romances with heat that's sweet. Her writing has been described as “emotionally complex”, “sweet and satisfying” and “blisteringly sexy”. If she can stop herself from reading or writing, she loves to cook. She has shelves of cookbooks that she reads at length. She also enjoys gardening in the summer, and in the winter she likes to read gardening magazines and seed catalogues (there might be a theme here...) She also loves shopping, especially for clothes and shoes. But her family takes precedence over everything else (yes, even writing). She has two teenage children who are the best kids in the world, not that she’s biased, and a wonderful husband who does loads of laundry while she plays on the computer writing stories. She loves hearing from readers, so please visit her website at www.kellyjamieson.com.
