What I Thought:

I love when I pick up a book because it has one of my favorite themes, second chance romance, and find a story that I can't put down. Alessandra and Hudson had fiery chemistry and it was a pleasure watching them try to deal with it. I loved how the story allowed me to be sort of an onlooker to what was happening between them and I loved the drama and passion. Just when I thought I knew what was happening, new twists appeared, leaving me eager for more.

I liked both Alessandra and Hudson, especially when they were younger. As adults I had moments when I didn't like how they behaved. Things have changed quite a bit since Hudson and Alessandra "Allie' have last seen each other. Hudson is no longer the hired help, while Allie is still a golden girl in high society. I loved the way they reconnected. That scene is one of my favorites from the book. Things have changed with their families too, some are noticeable and others not so much.

Allie and Hudson give off a lot of heat. The only part about them I didn't enjoy was that both of them weren't romantically free to enter into a renewal of their previous relationship. The other thing I didn't like, but understood, was the abuse of the power that came with money and prestige. I have a feeling many of the characters will be feeling the brunt of those abuses in the future. Karma after all is a bitter and tenacious bed fellow.

The book ended on a cliff hanger and I'm so glad the next book comes out fairly soon. I'm looking forward to finding out where Allie and Hudson's story goes from here.  If this first book in any indication, it's going to hot, fast, and angsty. Ann Marie and Amy have done a great job at writing a story that's hot and juicy, and that's just the secrets everyone is keeping from every one else!
