It's your lucky day! I have one paperback of Toxic to giveaway to a reader living in the United States (sorry international peeps)! This book has been getting amazing reviews and you know as a fan of second chance romances I couldn't pass up reading it! Kim gets to visit New York for "writing research" annually. Lucky girl! ;)
Synopsis
New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr turns up the heat in a smoking hot, emotionally compelling romance that takes you into the world of Manhattan's elite. Meet Jeremy McQueen, a sexy, intense, brooding entrepreneur who goes after what he wants, and Phoebe St. Claire, a socialite-turned-CEO who's been drifting through life searching for something she thought she'd never find again--the right man to share her future.
Phoebe St. Claire has devoted herself to saving her family's hotel empire--but her best efforts have not been good enough. With her whole world in turmoil, the tenacious go-getter turns to the once love of her life. Far from innocent, Jeremy McQueen was the guy from the wrong side of the tracks who her parents would never have approved of. Their years apart have only made the sexy bad boy more irresistible than ever--and their reunion is explosive.
When she asks Jeremy to help her salvage her family business, he agrees immediately, with only one condition--he wants her in his bed.
But soon surprising circumstances leave Phoebe reeling. Was this fairy tale romance just too good to be true? Will Jeremy's secrets pull them apart all over again?
Author Interview
1) What inspired you to write this book?
I’d read an article about underground nightclubs and thought it was such a cool idea. People show up in the oddest of places to party and then move to another. That transformed into Jeremy’s business in a more legit way. As for Phoebe and friends, I wanted to create a group that was somewhat against the grain of how we think of socialites.
2) Do you like to read second chance romances yourself? If so, what's your favorite? The title of the last one you read?
I love reading romance period. The last second chance romance I read might be Stepbrother Dearest, I’m reading Say My Name right now, which is a second chance romance as well. J
3) What was your favorite thing about writing this book?
Having it set in NYC was so much fun. I loved being able to focus on the streets and places. I just love NYC!!!
4) Did you find it difficult to write any particular scenes or characters in the story?
Breakup scenes and conflict. Tearing my couples apart kills me. I often find my heart stilling and tears escaping from my eyes.
5) Did any scenes make you laugh out loud or cry?
Yes, all the time.
6) Did you listen to any music while writing?
I listen to music before I write but when I write, I like it to be quiet.
7) Did you visit Manhattan for research?
I have been to the city many, many times. I grew up in Upstate New York and even now I visit at least once a year.
Thank you Kim for taking the time out of your busy schedule to answer these questions!

It's the '2 powerful people' part that worries me...it seems like in a lot of relationships, one person is more dominant/outgoing while the other is good with following...kinda the 'opposites attract' cliche at work. However, if it is a second try, and the 2 people are committed to making it work, I think there's still a chance!
ReplyDeleteI agree Kristen. If the two really want to make it work they will regardless of personality type.
