Synopsis: He’s twenty-four. She’s eighteen.

His life is exactly the way he’s always wanted it to be...stable.
She’s quite possibly the very definition of unstable.

Noah saved her.
Georgina never wanted to be saved.

Growing up, Noah Clark was passed from one relative to the next until he finally ended up living with his abusive, alcoholic uncle in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Thanks in part to the unwavering love and support of his best friend, Ellie Turner, Noah survived those years, escaped his uncle, and grew into the man he is today. Now he runs his own business and lives a pretty normal, no-nonsense life—one where he maintains a high level of control.

Georgina is Ellie’s younger sister. Four months ago, Noah saved Georgie’s life, but he thought that was where his involvement with his friend’s sister would end. Now Georgie has returned home from the recovery facility her parents sent her away to and Noah, still haunted by the night that connects them, can’t stop himself from continuously trying to protect this girl he barely knows. But is he willing to give up all of the control he’s worked so hard to build in his life and risk everything for her? Even more importantly, would she do the same for him?

What I Thought:

I've wanted to read this book and series for quite some time. There was something about the blurb that drew me in. I wasn't sure if it was the sibling's friend or if it was the fact I knew this book was going to have lots of emotional angst. I wasn't disappointed and the book started off throwing punches and taking no prisoners.

In fact I was very surprised at how the story started, but it certainly caught my attention. I was hooked after that first chapter. I really liked Noah and Georgina. I thought I wouldn't because of the age difference between them, but I liked how it was treated so it became a non-issue quickly. Noah was so endearing. I loved reading from his point of view and seeing how concerned he was for Georgina. I understood his fears and why he had them, but I also loved seeing how he tried to overcome them for her.

I liked Georgina too, although I didn't like the actions she took in the beginning of the book. I understand why she might think her actions were appropriate even if I didn't think it was the right thing to do. I do like how much her mindset changed once she was back after being away. There was no doubting their attraction to one another, but I liked how it was paced. I loved Ellie, Georgina's older sister and Noah's best friend. She really supported Georgina and Noah. I loved her attitude and sense of humor.

The story was interesting and I enjoyed the twists that it took. It wasn't very long, but it didn't feel completed. There wasn't a cliff hanger, and it wasn't like the story was left wide open, but I didn't get the closure I was looking for. I do hope to see Noah and Georgina in more books in the series. They had to fight really hard to find happiness. I hope they're able to hold on to it. I liked this first book from Sarah Darlington and I can't wait to see what happens next in this series.
