There wasn't much about this book that I didn't enjoy. Both Jed and Honor are perfect for each other. Jed is secure in who he is and he's not afraid to do what he feels is right. I loved that about him. Honor is sweet but so scared after what happened to her. Not only was she physically hurt, but the person she thought would be there to support her wasn't and now he's back once again now that she's thinking about singing again. I really did not like Dan Steele. I did like Honor though. She did go a little loopy on me towards the end of the book which threw me off a little because she had mentioned earlier about not wanting to know more.
There was one thing that bothered me a little bit. Mandy mentions and uses the Confederate flag numerous times. Now I'm a Southern girl through and through. It is an important part of our history and culture, but it's not really as prominent part of our daily lives anymore. Yes it can be seen on the occasional belt buckle and on many a truck, but the flag isn't flown very often. It's also no longer on graves. Now I know Mandy is from the UK, so that's okay. These days it raises more controversy than nostalgia when used.
Mandy Baggot is a phenomenal writer and she's done it once again with another great book. I love how the book is set in Nashville, the home of country music and many a rock star as well. Mandy writes characters that are real and easy to relate to. She always manages to write a book that's not only full of romance but also of issues that make and break us. I'm sure at one time or another we've all wanted to be celebrities but we forget what all comes with it.
