What I Thought:
I haven't been on many roller-coasters but I can easily recall how it feels after getting off one. Finishing The Tainted Love Duet felt like I'd been on a roller-coaster for hours and just gotten off; I'm stunned and trying to get my bearings back. This book is amazing. There are so many twists, turns, and revelations I wasn't sure what was going to happen next!
Logan and Elle formed this intense bond with each other after only knowing each other for a very short period of time. Just when they think all their troubles are over and they can be together, trouble raises its nasty head. One mystery has turned into three and Elle and Logan are in a race against time to figure it out.
There is so much I want to say, but can't because it might spoil the book for others. I will say this. To give you a general idea, this is a romantic suspense novel with mystery elements. There is a lot of suspense and the mystery thickens with each page. There were moments when I was holding my breath because I couldn't bear to breathe in case something horrible was going to happen and times when I was pacing back and forth as i read to try and calm myself.
I really feel like Logan and Elle's experiences in Blow changed them in Crush. liked Logan a lot more in this book. He's more confident and secure in this book. Elle was too, but I didn't like how she was willing to overlook red flags for Clementine's sake, especially when the child wasn't in danger, but I understood her concern to be there for her. I loved seeing Logan with his grandfather Killian in this book. It really showed me the type of bond the two had. I also liked seeing Logan with friends and those he trusted; the loyalty between them was wonderful.
I was never able to anticipate the next step. The only thing I would've changed is perhaps the end, in regards to how the mastermind of it all is apprehended. After all the searching the way they were dealt with felt like a letdown. Otherwise, Kim Karr has done a fabulous job with this book and series. The two books in The Tainted Love Duet series are not light reads. They're gripping, intense, and often emotional. There are twists that will leave you breathless and on edge, and the chemistry between the characters will leave you wanting more.
