What I Thought:
This prequel really has me intrigued! Cuba Hudson is the hot player I think he is, but he also has substance. He loves and worries over his mother and admires his father. He carries a deep sense of guilt for something that happened to his family a few years ago. What happened, I'm not really sure. I love how he knows Dovey could be his downfall, the change from everything he knows in life, and he's both afraid of it and ready for it.
Dovey is a mystery. She's on a scholarship to the prestigious Briarcrest Academy, and ballet may be her life, but she's got secrets. She's attracted to Cuba, but those secrets, which are only hinted at by the way, have the potential to hurt and maybe destroy Cuba. I have a hunch and can not wait to read Very Wicked Things to find out if it's true. I'm hoping it's not.
The novella flew by and it really set the stage for the next book. Ilsa Madden-Mills has done a fabulous job at preparing readers for Cuba and Dovey's book.
