Review: #Hater by Cambria Hebert

Synopsis: It started with unspoken animosity. The bitter bite of jealousy. And now its full blown hate.

It was during my first football game that I first felt the first chill of hate. I looked it right in the eyes and felt its sticky tentacles reach out for me. I’d never experienced something so cold and empty before.

The effect of that look lingered, like an unspoken promise, long after it was gone.

Becoming a couple – becoming the other half of a campus celebrity wasn’t easy. I let down walls guarding my heart and he looked past my glasses and accident prone tendencies. Romeo and I are an unlikely match, a #nerd and a jock. But we made it.

And we’re happy.

Zach doesn’t want us to be happy. He wants Romeo to pay for getting him kicked out of Omega and for the night he spent in jail. He’s going to use anything and everything he can to get his revenge. Including me.

As the weather on campus grows cold and the days become dark, revenge becomes the center of someone’s life and the happiness Romeo and I worked so hard for is threatened.

I can’t help but worry that our love is going to be overshadowed by hate.

What I Thought:

What is it with this series?  I read book one in a couple of hours and I read this book in a little over 90 minutes...and it was SO GOOD!  Not only did I get more Romeo and Rimmel, but their story progressed rapidly.  I'm so glad the time between this book and the next #Player is only a couple of months.  I'm ever luckier because my wait between the books is only a couple of weeks.  (I waited to read it.)

I think my love for Rimmel and Romeo, both together and as individuals, equals the measure of animosity I have for Zach.  I still have no idea why he hates Romeo so much.  I also can not begin to fathom what it is he has against him that has him targeting Rimmel, and in turn Romeo.  The last half of the book, my heart was in my throat, and my pulse was all over the place.  The story took a turn I wasn't expecting and end in a way I didn't expect either.

This book ended on a sort of cliffhanger.  I immediately went to purchase the next book, but realized it wouldn't be available for almost two weeks.  The wait is agonizing, but I'll make it. I read this book in one sitting.  Once again I started reading it late and finished it in the early hours of the morning, but it was so worth it.  I have to give Cambria Hebert props for creating such a wonderful cast of characters and story.  This is only book 2/5 and I can't wait to see what happens next and what further hurdles Romeo and Rimmel will have to face to find lasting peace and happiness.
