Publisher: Limitless Ink Press
Synopsis: New York Times, USA Today, and International Bestselling series

Mister Black swept in and out of my life like a tornado, leaving me twisted up and forever changed in his wake.

And now that my life is finally back on track, I need to move on, despite the many reminders of our time together.

But our pasts are only as far away as the shadows we hide behind, and sometimes those shadows grow darker, converging on the present in the most insidious way.

He is Black: a stealthy hunter and rainbow master.

I am Red: a truth seeker and desire keeper.

Together we are obsession. Passionate colors destined to be drawn together.

NOTE: SCARLETT RED is meant for readers 18+ due to mature content. This is part 2 of the IN THE SHADOWS serial and is a novel-length book at 273 print pages. You should read part 1, MISTER BLACK, before reading SCARLETT RED.

What I Thought:

I thought the first book was amazing, and it was.  I was hoping this second part in Sebastian and Talia's story would be on par with the first, and it was, even after taking place a decade after their initial meeting.  I was hoping they'd find each other and be happy, but there will be another book featuring the both of them, which makes me happy to know their happy ever after has only been delayed, not canceled.

The story picks up years after the missed meeting at the coffee house.  Talia is now a writer and is being forcefully sent on a break. She encounters a man on her way that reminds her of Sebastian, but he doesn't have his beautiful two different colored eyes, so she just thinks he reminds her of him.  Plus she had chemistry with Bash, the pilot, even if she was trying to fight it, and he wasn't letting her.

I liked the mystery and intrigue aspect of it.  I wasn't expecting it, but it had my heart in my throat.  I enjoyed how seamlessly it fit with the flirtation Talia and Bash the airline pilot had going on.  There were a number of moments when I thought there was more to the mystery because I wasn't able to put all the puzzle pieces together, but when the identity of the culprit revealed I was shocked and impressed because I certainly had not seen that coming!

Besides the chemistry Talia and Bash shared, there were other revelations surrounding the past I was happy to hear, and some not so much.  The kicker though was the big surprise at the end of the book.  I don't feel like it's a true cliff hanger, but it will definitely left me wanting to read the next book right away, and it's not even published yet!
