Review

★★★★★ stars

I've loved all of Caisey's books that I've read thus far.  I enjoyed the first book in this series but when the blurb for this book first released I was tempted but unsure.  I knew Fate was going to be devastated by the betrayal she was going to face, and I was unsure if I wanted to experience that with her.  Of course once I started reading, how I wanted to feel or not didn't matter because I there with Fate as her life took on turns she'd never expected.

I loved Fate from the beginning.  She's preparing for her wedding with her long time boyfriend and the only person she has there for her on her wedding day is her best friend and maid of honor.  When she sees her fiancee and her best friend having sex with her own eyes, she's broken.  It's not just her heart that's broken, it's her trust in people, and her soul in a way.  She had tried so hard not to be like her mother and put everything into one guy, but it turns out her dreams were broken in away they couldn't be put back together.  I didn't read about Fate's pain, I experienced it.  The tightness and pain in my chest as she realized she'd been blind hurt so badly.  I wanted to rage and scream on her behalf but could only calmly watch as she took her life into her own hands.  And I watched as fate brought Dean and Fate together in the aftermath of probably the worst day in Fate's life.

The chemistry Fate and Dean had was amazing.  From the moment they met I knew they were going to be explosive and they were.  I was almost panting at the end of that first beach scene, it was so hot. They kept me on the edge of my seat and turning pages as fast as I could read them.  I knew Fate had a lot on her plate, but I had no idea Dean was dealing with things too.  Watching both of them circle around each other was interesting.  Seeing them both try to make this something casual was fun and frustrating at the same.  Especially when Dean decided to be hot and cold with Fate.  Instead of talking about whatever was bothering him, he'd clam up and go on the offensive.  I hated seeing him doubt his feelings and Fate as well, because that hurt both of them.

I could not put this book down.  I read it in one sitting and was both happy and sad when it was over. I do hope to see Fate and Dean in other books in this series, even if it's for a small glimpse into their lives together.  Caisey's written another wonderful story and I can't wait for the next book in this series.
