Title: Fair Game
Series Name: The Rules Series
Author Name: Monica Murphy
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
Now she supposedly belongs to the ultra rich, extremely gorgeous Shep Prescott. He could have anything he wants yet he seems to be in hot pursuit of her. No matter how rude, how snarky, how impossible she acts, it doesn't stop him. More like her horrible behavior seems to make him want her more.
When she finds herself starting to fall for him, Jade's confused. There's more to Shep than the carefree rich charmer he portrays. No way could he want a serious relationship with her...or could he?
Fair Game in Five Words by Monica Murphy
It’s really hard for me to consolidate FAIR GAME into only five words. I could use so many to describe this book that gave me all the feels while I wrote it. Seriously, I had the best time writing it. Like I cracked myself up and swooned a little over Shepard Prescott (okay fine I swooned a lot). I may sound crazy, but these characters that reside in my head tend to take over and it’s like they’re real. They’re the ones dictating the story, not me…
But I’m veering off track. So here are five words that describe FAIR GAME (first in my new NA series The Rules):
Ridiculous: This word popped up continuously as I wrote. Shep’s name is ridiculous, the way he acts is ridiculous, Jade feels like her reaction to Shep is ridiculous…it’s all ridiculous. I love this word and always try to include the term ridiculously good looking in a book (thank you Zoolander). Now I can’t remember if I did use that term in FAIR GAME. I hope I did…
Sexy: I can’t write a book without it being sexy. I just can’t. So that’s a guarantee. Well, at least I hope you think it’s sexy. I found Shep to be incredibly sexy, what with his relentless pursuit of Jade. He’s the type of guy who once he figures out what he wants, he won’t slow down until he gets it. And what he wants is Jade…
Fun: If you’re used to my previous new adult series (One Week Girlfriend), then you know I can bring the angst. I know how to make characters suffer. But with FAIR GAME, there’s not much suffering. Well, Shep does suffer from a case of blue balls here and there and Jade gets super mad at him at one point, but overall, this book isn’t much on angst. It’s fun. A little silly.
Sweet: I’m a sucker for a sweet and sexy romance. I like writing them too. I love sexual tension and having that feeling where I’m just dying for the couple to get together already, but I also like a little sweetness added to the sexy times. And I think FAIR GAME has a lot of sweetness, especially when it comes to Shep and the way he acts around Jade. He defends her so readily. He genuinely likes her, despite her initial distrust of him. And I find that sweet. Hope you do too.
Bromance: There’s not only romance, there’s bromance in this book peeps. Shep has his best friend Gabe and his cousin (and close friend) Tristan—the three of them run an illegal gambling house (scandalous!). I wanted to focus on the friendship these three have and I plan on going even deeper with each book. I love a good bromance! I hope I’m not alone in that sentiment.
The Rules series will continue with In the Dark and Slow Play!
