Review: Bennett Mafia by Tijan

Rating: ★★★★
Date published: March 3rd, 2019
Publisher: Amazon Digital Services LLC
Synopsis: There were always whispers about my roommate at Hillcrest Academy.

The wealthiest of the wealthy sent their kids to our boarding school, and Brooke Bennett had been at the top, though I never quite knew why. She was fun and outgoing, but she kept quiet about her family. The only things she showed me were photographs of her brothers.

I became fascinated with her second-oldest brother. Kai Bennett.

He was the most of them all. Smoldering. Hypnotic. Alluring.
Kai had eyes that pulled me in and a face that haunted my dreams.

Then I met him.

He came to our school with their father, and that’s when I learned what kind of family Brooke came from. They were mafia, and Brooke’s oldest brother was dead. Her father said accident, but Brooke said murder.

Three months later, her father died, and Kai became the head of the Bennett Family. Brooke left Hillcrest for good, and that was the last time I saw her.

Fourteen years later, I’m staring at her face on the television. Brooke is missing.

Two days later, Kai Bennett kidnaps me.

 What I Thought:

Tijan f@$%^&g killed it! She knows how to write stories that can seem simple and easy, but then you slowly start to see the intricacies as you peel back the layers and everyone of them is a bombshell that will leave you shaken and blow your mind.

I think besides all the twists, and the characters Riley and Kai, I loved how they were with each other. First guarded and then very slowly opening up to each other, but not being blind to their own faults or those of the other. Their chemistry was fierce and I love how they kept each other on their toes, both verbally and physically. However it was their influence on each other, seeing what was important to the other and how they incorporated that into their lives that got to me most.

If you've never read Tijan, you don't know what you're missing out on. I would highly recommend you pick up Bennett Mafia because it's a standalone and because it's some of her best writing in my opinion.

About the Author
tijan bio.jpegI didn't begin writing until after undergraduate college. There'd been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can't blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I'm hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.
