A Contemporary Romance novel
What happens when the one you want is the only one you can't have?
My name is Sevin.
Homeschooled and sheltered by my ultra-religious family, I was always taught that lust was a sin.
Elle was the girl who'd been carefully chosen for me.
After a long-distance courtship, I'd be moving into her family's guesthouse so that we could get to know each other in the months before the wedding.
Boundaries were set: no inappropriate touching, no kissing, no sex before marriage.
I'd accepted those rules and my fate.
Until I met the one I wanted to sin with.
That was when restraint became a problem...especially since THE ONE wasn't Elle.
It was her sister, Evangeline.
You know what they say about best laid plans.
My name is Sevin, and I have sinned.
Told in alternating points of view, Sins of Sevin is a full-length standalone novel.
Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language.
Only appropriate for adult readers

SINS OF SEVIN EXCERPT

He quietly followed me into the dining room, carrying the flatware. The tension in the air was thick as he walked behind me around the oval table, setting down silverware after each plate I’d put down. It was like some weird game of musical chairs where awkward silence replaced the music. The hairs on my back stiffened. We weren’t saying anything, but it was as if I could feel the weight of a thousand words along with the heat of his body so close behind me.
When I noticed he’d just put a fork where the spoon was supposed to go, I switched it. “The forks go on this side, actually.” My hand was shaking. I couldn’t believe how little control I had over myself.
Noticing my nerves, he suddenly placed his hand over mine and whispered, “Stop.”
Chills ran through me. My heart started to beat faster. My nipples hardened. I hated my body for responding to him with equal amounts of fear and lust.
I turned to him, his hand still over my knuckles. It felt like I couldn’t breathe as he just looked at me.
My mother’s footsteps caused Sevin to move his hand off mine with lightning speed.
Mama entered, and we continued setting the table as if our stolen moment hadn’t happened.

I always love when a story takes me by surprise. I was expecting the forbidden attraction and love angle, but wasn't prepared for the twists this tale took, or the amount of emotions and feelings that came my way as I read. overwhelming at times but really elevated Sevin and Evangeline's story to a completely different level.
Sevin is a special character. He's never felt like he's belonged in his family and he carries his own burdens. I may have assumed he was this total bad boy who let nothing stand in the way of what he wanted, even if it was against the moral codes of many people. However he surprised me. Sevin may have been a bad boy, but in no was he like I what thought he'd be. Sevin was so more conscientious than I thought he would be. Sevin was extremely considerate of those around him, even when doing so hurt him. I liked how Sevin tried to be a good man and there were moments when I could feel him struggle to do the right thing, where I could feel his pain.
Evangeline may have had it the toughest. She's someone who also doesn't fit the mold her very conservative family would like. She's got a great heart, but a mind of her own. She's so strong. I hated watching her hurt and struggle with her feelings and reality. She loves her family unconditionally and she makes a number of sacrifices that I don't know I'd be capable of making if I was facing the same decisions. Evangeline is beautiful both inside and out. It's amazing at how much I could feel the yearning between Sevin and Evangeline long before they ever touched or became intimate. Those two truly recognized each other by soul. This book has one of the best and believable love/lust at first sight meetings I've ever read.
Penelope Ward really took all the anticipation I had of this book and delivered. It's hot and sweet at the same time, while also moving me emotionally. There were moments when I just wanted to cry because of what was happening between Sevin and Evangeline. The romance between them is very realistic in the fact not everything is packaged neatly. Sure some of it may seem over the top, but what happens feels true to Sevin and Evangeline's natures. I would've loved to know more about what happens after Sevin and Evangeline reunite and the epilogue, especially since the lest ten percent of the book was where the book started to wrap up. I would also love to read more about some of the characters I met in this book. I do sincerely hope Penelope will write about a character named after a certain flower. If you're looking for a book that'll capture your attention and hold you captive while being hot and tugging on your heart strings, you can't go wrong reading this one.
