From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kylie Scott comes a new story in her Stage Dive series… When a stalker gets too close to plus-size model Mae Cooper, it’s time to hire some muscle. Enter former military man turned executive protection officer Ziggy Thayer. Having spent years guarding billionaires, royalty, and rock n roll greats, he’s seen it all. From lavish parties through to every kind of excess. There’s no reason some Instagram stylista should throw him off his game. Even if she does have the most dangerous curves he’s ever seen... **Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Review

★★★★

Closer is a wonderful taste of the Stage Dive world Kylie Scott first introduced to readers in 2013 with Lick. While this story stands completely apart from the four books featuring the four members of the band and the women they fall in love, I loved visiting with beloved characters and seeing how they're thriving.

A common theme in Kylie Scott's books are female empowerment and body positivity. While the men may fall in love with the women, it's not the love of a man that changes their lives, but simply enhances the richness of it. Closer is no different. The story maybe a little over a hundred pages, but Mae Cooper the plus sized supermodel is the undoubted star. She's strong, confident, sassy, bold, and living her best  life. Ziggy Thayer might be gorgeous and wonderful eye candy, but he's there to protect her as long as she's under threat of bodily harm.

The chemistry between them is undeniable and delicious. I could almost feel the sizzle as Ziggy gazed at Mae, both when she was done to the nines and when she was relaxed and comfortable in sweats. I loved how Mae was her confident self with Ziggy, especially when not on the clock. Most of all I loved how Mae in a way rescued herself. I love a badass hero, but there's nothing better than a badass heroine. And Ziggy and Mae are perfectly matched!

I love what Kylie Scott did with this story. I can only ever hope for more of her words and story-telling. I am hoping fledgling rockstar Adam who first appeared in Strong, another 1001 Dark Nights story set in the Stage Dive world, will get a story of his own!
